I have a BFA from the Ruskin School of Art, and an MA in Television and Video Production.
Speaking
I occasionally give talks; I'm proudest of the talk I gave at Interesting 2016 on social media and dementia. I've also spoken about how to survive a zombie apocalypse by instrumentalising the WI, the cultural history of the vacuum cleaner at Interesting 2008, and on 'Rembrandt, Pr0n and robot monkeys: lessons from the present about flesh and technology' at OpenTech 2008. At some point I'll put up my slides, honest.
Digital Storytelling and Production
Some time ago I got distracted by the internet and worked for over twenty years as a digital producer at the intersection of technology, art, games and ‘old’ media. I produced projects which won a BAFTA, an Emmy, and a nomination for the Tate IK Prize.
If you're interested in my more professional digital side *, I maintain a profile at LinkedIn with details of my CV. Recently I have:-
written three courses for FutureLearn on solving problems with technology,
helped small third sector and creative organisations think about their digital strategy, organise their websites, understand their privacy policies and publish research reports in accesible digital formats.
provided technical project management on Make Noise VR for Anagram,
helped design and deliver the National Film and Television School's first course in creative producing for digital platforms,
If you're determined to stalk me online (and it's really not that hard to do, you know) you might want to :-
look at some photos and drawings on Instagram,
follow me on twitter for assorted whimsy and swearing,
see what bits of internet I'm investigating on Pinboard or are.na
look at my image scrapbook on Pinterest,
Go on. You know you want to.
* it involves just as much swearing as my unprofessional side, and I should probably work on that.
